There must be some reason why some freelance bookkeeping businesses do better than others. If two equally skilled bookkeepers compete in the same market, why does one seem to have no problem getting work, when the other has no idea how to find bookkeeping clients?

Finding clients is not something that is done occasionally using an ad-hoc shotgun approach, it must be done on an ongoing basis and you need to have a solid plan in place.

1.  Posting in Business Forums:

Go to Google and find a forum in a “niche” you’d like to do bookkeeping in.  For example, if you’d like to do online bookkeeping for Internet Marketers search for the term “internet marketing forums”.  Many businesses like to meet online with other people in the same business to discuss issues they’re having.  So find these business owners and start making friends with them.
